long and slim fingers quietly pull items from a messenger bag, & riley shakes the hair out of her eyes as she nods, confirming brooke’s silent question. riley knows her so well at this point that she doesn’t need to hear the rest. friends since they were children ; FIRST GRADE seems so far away now. there’s almost NOTHING in her memories she could accredit to that year. besides, of course, becoming friends with brooke & nina. but if she’s being honest, that was the only part of that year that really matters. times were so much easier back then ; there wasn’t SO MUCH at stake & their biggest problem involved choosing which BOW to wear to school that day. now the biggest problem they have is deciding whether they would be comfortable potentially DYING in that whatever it is they choose to wear. the nostalgia hits her like a freight train ————— & for a minute, riley is silent.
❛ you know my memory is shoddy, brooke ! i do remember some of it though —— ❜ PINK LIPS purse & riley imitates puts on the front of someone thinking long &hard. ❛ some of the words that REALLY stuck out were tall, dark & HANDSOME. ❜ a smile ; it is GENUINE happiness for her friend. as of late she does not experience that emotion much for herself but she is STILL happy others get to. ❛ do any of those words remind you of something ? or better yet, someone ? inquiring minds want to know, brooke maddox. ❜
